MOSCOW, January 22The defense is appealing the transfer of blogger Elena Blinovskaya to a pre-trial detention center due to violation of the conditions of house arrest, her lawyer Natalia Salnikova said.
“»We will appeal this decision. As a person, I believe that a woman should not be in prison. Such a harsh measure of restraint should be chosen only in exceptional cases. I see no reason for it in this case,” said the agency’s interlocutor .

Today, the investigation brought a new charge against Blinovskaya — two counts of illegal circulation of means of payment, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. In addition, the Investigative Committee stated that the blogger grossly violated the terms of house arrest, and therefore the previously chosen preventive measure is subject to toughening.
As it became known from the investigator during the meeting, on December 23, Blinovskaya, disregarding the prohibitions, held a party at her home, which was attended by more than 15 people, among them — a witness in her criminal case, Victoria Asmolov, which is a violation of the previously chosen preventive measure. The investigation learned information confirming these facts from Asmolova herself, who has common business interests with Blinovskaya.
The defense, in turn, stated that they did not know about the witness status of Blinovskaya’s friend, although they repeatedly asked the investigation to provide them with a list of all the persons involved in the case that the Investigative Committee was interested in.
