Lexus NX received new things: revised chassis and special Overtrail version

The refreshed crossover 2024 model year is already available for order in Japan. The price starts at 5,120,000 yen (equivalent to approximately 3.1 million rubles at the current exchange rate).

The Japanese manufacturer introduced the Lexus NX crossover in 2014, and the second generation debuted in 2021. This car is based on the modular GA-K platform, on which the fifth generation Toyota RAV4 is based, as well as the executive Toyota Century SUV, which debuted last year. The range of the “second” NX includes gasoline and hybrid power plants.

The company said that the Lexus NX received a number of new features, at the moment we are talking about a version for the home market. One of the most important changes is the modernization of the chassis. Engineers retuned the suspension, which improved handling, and also increased chassis rigidity. The NVH hybrid version has reduced engine noise in the cabin.

The Lexus NX has received virtually no visual changes for the current model year. This can only be considered the appearance of a new copper body shade, Sonic Copper, in the palette. In addition, the L version of the model has wheel arch linings that are not black, but painted in body color. The interior also has a new trim option — Hazel (walnut).

There are also changes to the equipment list. Thus, a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system is now standard equipment (it replaces a 9.8-inch touchscreen). All versions have lighting on the rear door handles, and in the cabin there are a pair of USB-C ports located on the center console. F Sport trims of the NX350 and NX350h now have full LED headlights with adaptive high beams. New options include a panoramic sunroof (available on the NX450h+).

Among the updates there is a new “off-road” special version, Overtrail Edition. This design comes with a set of original 18-inch alloy wheels shod with all-terrain tires. In addition, this crossover has increased ground clearance by 15 mm (up to 200 mm). The special versions also reconfigured the suspension in such a way as to reduce shaking when driving on uneven surfaces.

Visually, the Overtrail Edition is distinguished by black accents: the wheels, radiator grille, glass frame, door handles, exterior mirror housings, and roof rails are decorated in this color. The body has a Moon Desert sand shade. The creators used wood inserts in the interior decoration.

The special version has standard equipment. The Overtrail Edition option is available in NX350 versions with a 279-horsepower 2.4-liter turbo-four petrol engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission; NX350h with a 242-horsepower HEV system based on a 2.5-liter engine, as well as NX450h+ with a PHEV system based on that 2.5-liter engine, which works in tandem with two electric motors and a battery, for a total output of 306 liters .s.
