
BARNAUL, March 2A passenger killed a taxi driver in Barnaul, stole his car and crashed into a pole, a criminal case has been opened, journalists were told at the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate for the Altai Territory.
“»A criminal case has been opened against a 34-year-old resident of the city of Barnaul, suspected of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder),» the message says.
According to investigators, in Barnaul a drunk man called a taxi to go to his friend’s house. Since his friend was not at home, he asked the driver to take him to another address. Upon arrival at the appointed point, the passenger again asked to wait for him, but was refused.
«»During the conflict that occurred in this regard, the suspect stabbed the taxi driver at least 10 times with a knife in various parts of the body. The victim died from his injuries at the scene of the incident. After the crime, the attacker got into a taxi car and disappeared. However, on a section of the road he lost control and crashed into a road sign. A short time later, the man was detained by traffic police officers,» the SUSC noted.
A petition to the court to take the man into custody is being prepared.
