An Australian man has died after being bitten several times by a highly venomous snake he was trying to remove from a daycare.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation has named him as 47-year-old Jerromy Brooks.
Brooks was bitten several times while local media reported he was trying to catch and bag a brown snake, one of the most venomous snakes in the world, in central North Queensland.
After the bites, he drove to his home in Diragoon. to tell his wife.
Queensland Ambulance Service said: «One patient was taken to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition after being bitten by a snake at a private address at 3.24pm.»
ABC reports Brooks was found in cardiac arrest with multiple bites. to his left hand. He was taken to Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition but did not survive.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics believed he had been bitten by a brown snake, a highly venomous species that produces a potent venom that can paralyze nerves of the heart, lungs and diaphragm, thereby strangling the victim.

Paula Marten, acting director of emergency services, said Brooks was taken to his wife after the attack, who immediately immobilized the limb and applied compression bandages. Noticing certain symptoms, she contacted emergency services.
Ms Marten said Brooke's wife's actions were «absolutely» correct.
«If you don't know about snakes, treat them all as if they were poisonous — call triple zero [service telephone number emergency] and apply basic first aid measures,” she said.
Australia is home to about 140 species of land snakes, about 100 of which are venomous, but of these only 12 can cause a fatal wound. according to the New South Wales Government.
Brown snakes are among the most dangerous, with around 200 people hospitalized each year after being bitten.
