The Forthing brand (in the home market — Fengxing, literally translated as “popular”), owned by the Chinese concern Dongfeng, appeared in Russia last year. The sales of models of this Chinese brand are handled by the importer, the company Ixen Motors Rus, one of which is the Forthing T5 Evo crossover, which is currently sold on the local market only with front-wheel drive. However, this year there will also be an all-wheel drive option.

Ixen Motors Rus said that the all-wheel drive version of the Forthing T5 Evo will become exclusive for the Russian market. Production of the model has been established at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad; the company announced the signing of the corresponding memorandum last week. It is reported that the main investments in the development of a crossover with an AWD system were directed by Forthing head office, work on this project began back in 2023.
The new version of the Forthing T5 Evo will receive an all-wheel drive system with a multi-plate clutch with an automatic connection function. The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max and Omoda C5 crossovers have a similar all-wheel drive system. It is known that the development of this modification of the T5 Evo was entrusted to the state-owned company Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor. Official details about this system will appear closer to the official premiere of the new version.
The Forthing T5 Evo is based on the modular EMA platform. The overall length of the crossover is 4565 mm, width – 1860 mm, and height – 1690 mm; the distance between the axles is 2715 mm. Distinctive features of the model's appearance are two-story head optics, a massive radiator grille, a small air intake integrated into the front bumper, traditional exterior mirrors and door handles, as well as a black roof with roof rails.
In the cabin, on the front panel there is a single display, which includes both a virtual instrument panel and a touchscreen of a fully Russified infotainment system. Forthing T5 Evo in the Russian specification have such “winter options” as heated steering wheel and windshield.

Under the hood of the Forthing T5 Evo there is a 1.5-liter Mitsubishi 4A95TD turbo engine, its output is 197 hp, maximum torque is 285 Nm. The engine is paired with a seven-speed preselective robotic gearbox from Magna. The front-wheel drive crossover takes 9.5 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h, and its top speed is 195 km/h.
