The current twelfth generation Toyota Corolla (E210) debuted in 2018 and underwent a planned update in 2022. The Corolla for the Japanese market is noticeably different in terms of technology and design from the model of the same name for other markets. The Active Sport version has so far been announced only for Japan and represents the initial stage of the factory tuning program, while the highest stage is the all-wheel drive Toyota GR Corolla hot hatch. Apparently, so that the Active Sport version does not conflict with the top-end GR Corolla, it is offered only in sedan and station wagon bodies.
External features of the Active Sport version are a more aggressive front bumper (side “fangs” and mesh added), door sills and generous black glossy decor — bumper overlays, sills, mirrors, roof and 17-inch alloy wheels are painted in this catchy color . The body color of the Active Sport version can only be grey, white or black.

The interior is equipped with front sports seats with integral headrests and developed lateral support, the pedals have aluminum pads, specially designed textile mats are laid on the floor.

The Active Sport version is available only in combination with a hybrid power plant, which includes a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine 2ZR-FXE (98 hp, 142 Nm), an electric traction motor (95 hp, 185 Nm ), an electromechanical variator and a buffer lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 4.08 Ah. The maximum total power of the hybrid power plant is 140 hp. All-wheel drive versions of the E-Four have a separate electric motor (41 hp, 84 Nm) installed on the rear axle.
