The romantic relationship between Koltsov and Sabalenko began about three years ago. The hockey player was in a marriage in which three children were born, but in 2020, Konstantin’s wife announced a divorce and published an unequivocal post on social networks, after which Koltsov’s relationship with Sabalenko began to be widely discussed on the Internet.

Koltsov was part of the coaching staff of Salavat Yulaev, and after the end of the season with the Ufa club arrived in Miami, where Sabalenka was supposed to compete at the WTA 1000 series tournament. But he did not see Arina’s games at the tournament — Koltsov’s body was found under the windows of the hotel. The police said that they found no signs of violent death, so they are investigating the possibility of suicide.
