KURGAN, April 13 Governor of the Kurgan region Vadim Shumkov said that the flood was approaching the settlement of Baraba near Kurgan, called on Telegram- channel to evacuate urgently.
«The flood is approaching the village of Baraba. It is already very close to Kurgan. Fellow countrymen, it is urgent to evacuate,» he wrote.

A regional emergency regime has been introduced in the Kurgan region. According to the forecast of the main department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the flood period, 62 settlements, 4,300 houses, 5,550 household plots, 600 summer cottages may be flooded in the region, and 18,718 people may fall into the emergency zone.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as of Saturday morning, 269 residential buildings and 409 household plots, one low-water bridge and seven sections of highways were flooded in the region, the Ministry of Emergency Situations specified. More than 7.1 thousand people were preventively evacuated due to the flood, 885 people are in temporary accommodation centers.
The peak flood in Kurgan is predicted for April 14-15. The water level in the village of Zverinogolovskoye, where the situation is most serious, was about 1008 centimeters — on Friday the water in the village began to decrease “a centimeter or two, going to Kurgan,” the head of the region noted.
