MOSCOW, April 15. The water level in the Tobol River near Kurgan rose by 11 centimeters in two hours, amounting to 596 centimeters, the authorities of the Kurgan region reported on the Telegram channel.
Previously, the city administration reported that the water level in the Tobol River near Kurgan has risen up to 585 centimeters according to data as of 00:00 on April 15 (22:00 Moscow time on April 14).
«The water level in Tobol continues to rise, in Kurgan, according to data On April 15 at 2.00 (0.00 Moscow time), it is 596 cm, +11 centimeters in two hours,” the regional authorities said in a statement.
It is noted that in Baraba, Ketovsky district, at the same time the water level was 226 centimeters, +23 centimeters in two hours. The increase in water level, according to the Ketovo district, in the area of the settlements of Ketovo, Lapteva, Kryukovo, Sanatornaya over the last two hours ranges from +18 to +20 centimeters.
Earlier, the head of the region, Vadim Shumkov, reported that at a level of six meters, flooding of the right bank part of the Tobol and the low part of the left bank would begin.
A regional-scale emergency regime has been introduced in the Kurgan region.
Unprecedented flood
The regions of the Southern Urals faced record floods this year. The most difficult situation is in the Orenburg region. On April 5, the dam that protected Orsk from the waters of the Urals broke through. Authorities carried out mass evacuations. On Sunday, the water level in the Orenburg region began to decline for the first time.
A federal state of emergency was introduced in the region. The regional government estimates the estimated damage from the flood at 21 billion rubles.
A state of emergency is also in effect in the Tyumen region. Today, the evacuation of two villages began there. 51 settlements, 1,847 houses and 7,291 people are at risk of flooding. The most tense situation with the release of water onto the floodplains is expected by April 20, with a peak on April 23-25.
The authorities of neighboring Kazakhstan stated that the current floods are the largest in the last 80-plus years.
