Earlier this week, the German company distributed official photos of camouflaged prototypes of the new X3, which gave us a reason to imagine what the crossover will look like .
The X3 model dates back to 2003, when the first generation of the mid-size luxury SUV debuted. It became the second serial crossover in the range of the Bavarian company after the X5 model, which appeared in 1999. Today on the assembly line is the third generation of the “extra” with the factory index G01, which premiered in the summer of 2017, and 4 years later it was noticeably updated. Now a completely new X3 is on the way, and photographs of test samples allow us to see some of the features of its appearance.

The SUV will retain the usual proportions characteristic of a rear-wheel drive platform: a long wheelbase, a large distance between the front door and the front wheel arch, a long horizontal hood. The design will be decided in the style of the more compact X1 crossover of the latest generation, which was first demonstrated at the very beginning of the summer of 2022. There are similar outlines of the front part, sides, glazing, and similar key-type door handles. The original will be headlights with a slightly modified shape and L-shaped running lights, echoing the restyled 5 Series of the previous generation. Also, the new X3 has a completely different rear part: for the first time for a model, the license plate niche will be located in the bumper immediately under the trunk lid, and the lights will be made in the style of the updated X5 and the new “five”. In addition, the crossover is shown with new design wheels.

Like most of the company's current models (including the current X3), the new product will be built on the CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform, which debuted in 2015 along with the sixth generation BMW 7 Series. The dimensions of the new X3 are already known: length will be 4755 mm (+40 mm compared to the current one), width – 1920 mm (+30 mm), height – 1660 mm (-7 mm), wheelbase – 2865 mm (-1 mm) . It is also stated that the drag coefficient has decreased from 0.29 to 0.27. The model will retain traditional versions with gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a hybrid PHEV modification with a 2.0-liter turbo engine paired with an electric motor and a small battery. It is expected that the top modification will be the M50 xDrive with a six-cylinder petrol engine (meanwhile, one of the main competitors of the Mercedes-Benz GLC has completely switched to 4-cylinder engines, including the 63 AMG version).

The premiere of the new product is expected in the coming weeks.
Recall that we previously found out whether it is worth buying a BMW X3 third generation with mileage.
