MOSCOW, April 25, Andrey Vasilchin. Last weekend, one of the most anticipated fights of the year took place at the Barclays Center in New York. American Devin Haney, who held the World Boxing Council (WBC) junior welterweight belt (up to 63.5 kg), sensationally lost to compatriot Ryan Garcia and, having suffered the first defeat in his career, lost the championship title. During the fight, the favorite was knocked down three times and survived to see the judges' verdict (split decision) only thanks to the referee, who did not want to record a technical knockout.
One way or another, the massacre turned out to be a sight for sore eyes! However, what the triumphant did before entering the ring was no less epic. Sports remembers how Garcia “went crazy” before the grandiose fight.
Rape and secret society
The strangeness began back in January, when Garcia published a post about the divorce a couple of minutes… after announcing the birth of his son! So-so gratitude to my wife. However, further — more: Ryan, who suffered his first defeat against Gervonta Davis in 2023, began to create absolute chaos on social networks, posting incomprehensible videos with incoherent text. Fans realized: the boxer has problems with alcohol and drugs.
As if losing his mind, Garcia admitted that he was raped as a child, also accusing the secret government of pedophilia:
«
“They held me hostage and forced me to watch children being raped!” Damn it, they took me out into the forest. I'm not kidding — there is evidence. Never mind! Bohemian Grove exists. They fucking tied me up and forced me to watch. They rape small children. You already know who it is… The Supreme Elite. But they cannot harm me because I am God. I was two years old when they raped me. I can provide evidence. That’s when it all started.”
The 25-year-old athlete also predicted an earthquake that would “destroy Los Angeles, Hollywood and Las Vegas.”

What other adventures did Garcia have, judging by his posts:
- his phone was taken away and his bank accounts were blocked;
- the boxer was used for personal interests;
- a little did not end up in prison;
- wanted to sue the New York Athletic Commission for trying to arrange a psychiatric examination for the athlete;
- called for prayer for Jerusalem.
The boxer's ex-wife sounded the alarm. Drea Selina was sure that Garcia was not trolling fans and was really depressed.
The failure of the weight race and a new portion of cringe
The week of the fight also had enough content for the media: Garcia almost ruined the fight against Devin by failing the weigh-in (he weighed 64.9 kilograms when the allowable weight was 63.5 kg). Haney did not refuse the fight (perhaps in vain) — as a result, the confrontation was deprived of title status for the offender. We explain: the challenger won, but the belt became vacant. There is a high probability that we will soon see an immediate rematch, in which the WBC title will be on the line.
Shortly before the weigh-in, the boxers “scuffled” during a battle of glances. Garcia swore at Haney's mother, after which the latter pushed the provocateur away. Ryan's reaction was not long in coming:

"Devin touched me without my consent and I am suing him for touching me. I identify as a woman, he hit an adult woman. And I am an LGBTQ+ representative (recognized as extremist in Russia and prohibited). So now it's a hate crime.»
In general, promoter Eddie Hearn and star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez were seriously worried about the guy. However, it all worked out: Garcia staged a real upset, and then made the long-awaited statement about his “performances.”
Confession
The day before, the American finally explained what it was. Garcia called the inappropriate behavior in preparation for the fight with Haney a planned action (apparently, in order to first relax and then stun his opponent in the ring):

"I was going to make everyone think I was crazy. It will be called the great escape. I have it all documented. I planned all this in advance. Honestly: I don’t know what gave me this idea… I just decided to go for broke and follow the plan that I had. <…> What I did do was drink a little during camp. Because I like to drink.» (Middle Easy)
Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Renato Moicano was impressed by the cunning of the “always drunken high” and called Garcia “a real marketing genius.” Garcia was also praised by the first “Most Dangerous Gangster” in the history of the main MMA promotion in the world:
