Music and excursions: what will surprise guests of the «Chaliapin Festival» in the Moscow region

MOSCOW, August 10 The traditional «Chaliapin Festival» will be held in the village of Gagino, Sergiev Posad Urban District, on the territory of the Temple Complex of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. This year it is timed to coincide with the Year of the Family.

A concert and educational program has been prepared for the audience. «The soloists of the Moscow Operetta Theater, the Moscow Theater «Novaya Opera» named after E.V. Kolobov, the Moscow Musical Theater «Gelikon-Opera», the People's Ensemble of Russian Song «Zabava» of the Sergiev Posad Urban District, the Accordion Ensemble of the Moscow Regional Philharmonic «Russian Timbre» will perform,» the organizers of the event said.

Also, for the first time, the singer-songwriter, poet, composer, and host of the SPAS TV channel Alexander Galitsky will take part in the festival.

Young guests will be introduced to folk games and amusements, traditional Russian instruments during interactive classes, and will have the opportunity to become members of a real orchestra themselves.

The exhibitions of the Russian National Museum of Music «Mikhail Glinka. Musical Journeys» and «The Temple Complex in Gagino and the History of the Wedding of Fyodor Chaliapin and Iola Tornaghi» as well as excursion programs are organized.
There will be a meeting and discussion «On Traditional Spiritual Values» with the rector of the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Gagino, Sergiev Posad Deanery, priest Dionisy Tsvetkov.

During the day, a fair of folk crafts will be open on the territory of the festival, and in the evening there will be a screening of the documentary film «Rimsky-Korsakov. Flight …» for the 180th anniversary of the composer's birth.

«The Shalyapin Festival is one of the few in our country that is organized by a museum. Every year we prepare a special program for residents and guests of the Sergiev Posad Urban District to once again tell everyone and remind everyone about this iconic place. It was here in the village of Gagino in the church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in 1898 that the Russian singer Fyodor Ivanovich Shalyapin married the ballerina Iola Tornaghi,» said Mikhail Bryzgalov, Director General of the Russian National Museum of Music.
