The large Chinese SUV has changed both outside and inside. And, perhaps, the range of modifications has been reduced.
The Mocha SUV (aka Mocca, and in Europe it’s Coffee 01) debuted in China in 2021, it became the first model of the so-called “new wave” – and “coffee” family – of the Wey premium brand, owned by Great Wall. At home, the cross lost customers: if in the incomplete 2021 it sold more than 28,000 copies there, then the total of last year is about 13,400 units. As usual, restyling is called to save sales.

The front part of the crossover was redrawn: Wey Mocha received a two-tier head optics, like the recently introduced Wey Lanshan SUV, a frameless radiator grille and another bumper (new laser sensors appeared on it). The taillights were also replaced — they are now «two-lane». In addition, a different overlay flaunts on the rear bumper. After restyling, the length of the SUV increased by 6 mm to 4881 mm. The remaining dimensions are the same: width — 1960 mm, height — 1690 mm, wheelbase — 2915 mm.

Inside, there is a new steering wheel and a redesigned central tunnel (in particular, the gearbox joystick was removed from it, the steering column is now responsible for controlling the transmission). As before, the crossover has three displays: a 9.2-inch virtual instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch touchscreen multimedia system, and a touch panel that controls the “climate”. Plus there is a projection display. Wey Mocha is still exceptionally five-seater.

The brand itself has so far only announced a restyled rechargeable hybrid. Such a cross has a Lemon-DHT installation based on a 1.5 gasoline turbo engine (the system works in both serial and parallel mode), but the return of the updated model has not yet been disclosed. But it was announced that the Mocha hybrid will be available with two battery options: 34 or 39.67 kWh (the pre-reform SUV is only supposed to have a top-end battery). In the first case, only on electric traction, the cross will be able to travel 175 km (according to the WLTC cycle), in the second — 204 km. » /> Updated Wey Mocha
The total power of the local pre-styling Wey Mocha DHT-PHEV with one electric motor is 396 hp. and 570 Nm, with two (on each of the axles) — 483 hp and 762 Nm. The old SUV still comes in the form of a “mild” hybrid with a 2.0 turbo engine and a 48-volt starter-generator (total output in China is 213 hp), but it is quite possible that this version will be retired in the brand’s homeland.

The updated Wey SUV will enter the home market before the end of this year. In Russia, the premium sub-brand Great Wall is not officially represented today, but not so long ago the Wey Mocha cross was caught in our country: it is possible that the brand is being prepared to enter the Russian market. However, if this SUV reaches the Russian Federation, it will probably be in its pre-reform form — at least at the first stage.
