Chelsea have contacted Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique after the club began the process of looking for a permanent successor to Graham Potter.
As reported by Telegraph Sport on Monday, Chelsea want try to interview five candidates for their head of the job and put together a list of names to work on.
At the top of that list is currently the unemployed couple Nagelsmann and Enrique, with whom Chelsea, without wasting time, contacted about their vacancy. .
It is believed that both men are interested in this work. Reports in Germany claimed that Nagelsmann could wait until the summer to get him, while Enrique could be available immediately.
Chelsea will contact other candidates in the next 48 hours with Mauricio Pochettino, Oliver Glasner, Luciano Spalletti. and Rubén Amorim are also under consideration, although Amorim has claimed he wants to stay at Sporting. Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is a name known to have been mentioned, but it is unclear if the Italian, whose future at Real Madrid is in doubt, is currently involved.
No timeline has been given for Chelsea's search, and sporting directors Lawrence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, who are leading the process, have committed to a thorough process.
Chelsea have ruled out another raid on Brighton for Roberto De Zerbi. and there is recognition that Potter's replacement should ideally have some experience at a top club and in Europe with the attendant pressure.
Nagelsmann fits the bill after being fired from Bayern Munich and is known to Stewart and Chelsea technical director Christopher Wywell, who worked with the German at RB Leipzig.
Enrique has coached Barcelona, Roma, Celta and most recently the Spanish national team. Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta knows the 52-year-old well, having been part of his team at the World Cup in Qatar.

Just last week, Enrique announced his desire to resume his coaching career in England and that he was getting ready to read the English media.
“I would like to go to England for work,” said Enrique. “I would like to move to a team that can do important things, which is very difficult. I wouldn't go to any of the premier teams.
“Since the World Cup ended, I haven't read the Spanish press. I haven’t seen social networks, I only read the English-language press.”
Pochettino is ticking a few boxes for Chelsea with his work at Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur, but there may be some Blues fans who are wary of the prospect of the club hiring the former Spurs manager.< /p>
Chelsea interviewed Pochettino before hiring Potter last September and it remains to be seen if the Argentine will be willing to go through an even more extensive process if contacted again.
The decision to sack Potter was recommended by Winstanley and Stewart after the loss to Aston Villa, and the pair reasoned it was pointless to sit out until the summer.
Potter's assistant Bruno Saltor has been named interim head coach but Chelsea believe the players will motivate themselves for Real Madrid's Champions League quarter-final, regardless of who is in charge of the first leg in Spain next week .
Stewart and Winstanley reached out to the Chelsea players before training on Monday to explain the current situation and remind them that there is still more to save this season, especially in Europe but also in the Premier League.
< p>Amorim, who has also been linked to Tottenham, has said he will only leave Sporting if the club pays a release clause in his contract, believed to be around £10m and he prefers stay in the Portuguese club. p>
Speaking in Portugal, Amorim said: “I have seen many managers move to other leagues and they were not happy. This is an important factor. I'm not looking for anything, I appreciate what I have, not what they say. I have had contacts with other clubs, Sporting know this, but I want to stay.
"If I have to leave, it will come naturally. I will not be the one to open the door, Sporting deserves respect. If I have to go, I will go. I'll tell the president. I want to fulfill my contract, I have very clear goals for what I want to do.
