Chery's new premium sub-brand series will be the first big sedan, debuting later this year. Next, the SUV will enter the market, in the future the range will be expanded. Well, the transformed Exeed VX crossover has already gone on sale.
Chery held a large-scale presentation in China, in which it shared plans for its further development. We will tell you about the upcoming new products of the parent company in subsequent news, the same note is dedicated to the premium sub-brand Exeed.
The main thing is that a new line of Sterra has been announced for Iksid, the name of which is derived from the words Star (“star”) and Era (“era”). This series will include electric cars and hybrids (in the latter case, the internal combustion engine will only work in generator mode to recharge the battery). It was also announced that a separate E0X electrical platform with an 800-volt electrical system has been developed specifically for Sterra. For cars on this «trolley» there are rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, in addition, they can have air suspension. By the way, it is possible that in the end the Sterra line will still turn into an independent brand, but the debuted models still bear the Exeed logo.
Exeed Sterra ET and Sterra ES concepts
At the moment, two cars of the new series are presented, both in the status of concepts. The first to reach the conveyor will be a large sedan, the harbinger of which was designated as the Exeed Sterra ES. The length of the show car is 4.95 m, width — 1.96 m, wheelbase — 2.9 m. And this is all the details for now. But it is known that the serial «four-door» will appear this year. Following (presumably in 2024), a crossover will enter the market — a commercial embodiment of the Sterra ET concept, but there is no information about this prototype. Sterra also has several more SUVs in the pipeline, plus a minivan.

Note that the brand itself considers the large “five-door” the second generation, although this is still a restyling.
Externally, the three-row cross has changed in the likeness of the five-seater version (the Exeed VX had a version with a passenger compartment for five and the original design a year ago), the difference is only in the details. For example, the grille with vertical wedges has a chrome frame instead of black, in addition, a shiny decorative insert flaunts on the new front bumper. The dimensions are the same (they do not depend on the number of seats): length — 4970 mm, wheelbase — 2900 mm.

The interior of the Exeed VX, on the other hand, has been completely redesigned, and it was designed in the style of Mercedes. The crossover got a new front panel with three different-sized displays under a single glass instead of a two-screen display. There is no longer a separate climate control unit with washers — all settings are sewn into the central touchscreen. Exeed VX also added a new steering wheel with touch buttons, seat controls were moved to the doors (again, like Mercedes), and the right-hand stalk is responsible for shifting the transmission. The seats were also improved, in addition, the list of equipment included heating and ventilation of the first and second rows (front seats with massage function) and an active noise reduction system. Finally, the restyled VX is available not only with seven, but also with a six-seat interior. By the way, the five-seat version remained in service, but it has an old interior.

A restyled three-row Exeed VX costs $28,200-$34,000. Later, such a crossover will certainly reach Russia.
Meanwhile, another premiere of the Chery premium sub-brand is scheduled for this year in the Russian Federation — the Exeed RX SUV (the model is called Yaoguang in its homeland) will be brought to us.
