Last week, Mini released official teasers for the next generation Countryman crossover, giving us a sneak peek at what the new product will look like .
The Countryman was first introduced in 2010, becoming the production version of the 2008 Mini Crossover Concept. It is the first crossover of the brand, as well as the first five-door model in the new history of the company under the auspices of BMW. Today, the second generation of the compact SUV is being produced, which premiered at the end of 2016, and in 2020 the car received a planned restyling. It's time for a generational change, and a few days ago, Mini posted photos of camouflaged prototypes that still show the main features of the future crossover.

The novelty will receive similar proportions with the current model, and the differences in appearance will be more of an evolutionary nature with some features from last year's Aceman concept. Slightly more angular headlights and a larger grille will appear at the front. The car will receive a traditional hood in terms of shape, which does not go into the headlights. On the side, the novelty is easily recognizable by the key-type door handles, exactly the same were previously received by some of BMW's new products — the 2-series coupe, the «four» in the five-door version of the Gran Coupe and the latest generation X1 crossover. At the rear, there will also be very noticeable changes: the Countryman will receive angular lights (perhaps they will be combined with a decorative insert), and the license plate niche will move from the trunk lid to the rear bumper.

The next generation crossover will be offered with both internal combustion engines and all-electric installation ( such an option will receive the prefix EV). The latter will be available in several versions: the Countryman E will be equipped with a single 188 hp electric motor, the more powerful all-wheel drive Countryman SE ALL4 with two electric motors will have 308 horsepower. As for the traditional versions, they will be presented with a turbocharged 3-cylinder 1.5 and 4-cylinder 2.0 in combination with a 48-volt starter-alternator (so-called mild hybrid).
