A week before the world premiere in Shanghai, photos of the MG Cyberster electric roadster flashed, the all-wheel drive version will have a capacity of 544 HP
As a concept car, the MG Cyberster debuted exactly two years ago at the Shanghai Motor Show, the premiere of the production version will take place there next week, and the Chinese Ministry of Defense, as usual, uploaded photos of many new products to the Web, including the MG roadster. However, we already know what the serial roadster looks like from patent images, but the photographs, of course, give a better idea of the new product. The serial MG Cyberster does not look as impressive as the concept, but in its appearance there is continuity with the last primordially British roadster MG F/TF (produced from 1995 to 2011), which was equipped with rather weak gasoline 4-cylinder engines with a capacity of no more than 160 hp. />
The electric Cyberster will be much more powerful and noticeably larger than its «hydrocarbon» ancestor, whose length did not exceed 4 m. The overall length of the new sports car is 4535 mm, width — 1913 mm, height — 1329 mm, wheelbase — 2690 mm. At the same time, there are only two seats in the cabin, a folding roof is made of cloth, two powerful safety arcs are visible behind the headrests of the seats. The maximum stock tire size is 245/40 R 20 front and 275/35 R 20 rear. The declared curb weight is 1985 kg, the gross weight is 2210 kg (for which version the weight values u200bu200bare indicated).
The basic version of the roadster will have a single electric motor on the rear axle with a capacity of 231 kW (314 hp) or 250 kW (340 hp). The all-wheel drive twin-engine version will have a 250 kW (340 hp) engine in the rear and a 150 kW (204 hp) engine in the front, giving the twin-engine version a combined output of 544 hp. Battery capacity and other specifications have not yet been announced.
For the MG brand, which, remember, from 2005 owned by the Chinese concern SAIC, the Cyberster roadster is a milestone symbolizing MG's return to its historical roots, that is, to sports cars. The Cyberster is aimed mainly at European customers, while in China MG has recently been offering sporty models with petrol engines, such as the spectacular MG 7 liftback. sell 150,000 vehicles in Europe, but nevertheless recorded an impressive sales growth of 116% to 113,672 vehicles compared to 2021 (JATO Dynamics data).
