Here's everything you need to know about this year's race.
When is the 2023 Grand National?
The Grand National is the world's most famous steeplechase and the culmination of the three-day Grand National Festival in Aintree, which this year runs from Thursday, April 13 to Saturday, April 15.
The main event, the Grand National itself, takes place on Saturday afternoon.
What time does the race start?
Runners will leave for the post at 5:15 pm on Saturday. The National Race itself is the sixth of seven races at Aintree that day. At just under four and a half miles, this is the longest race of the entire three-day event.
How can I watch the race? What TV channel is it on?
The festival usually attracts more than 150,000 racing fans. It is broadcast live on ITV and Racing TV.
What's the weather like?
We expect a lot of rain this week, but it should stop by the time of the race itself. Admission to the national course was assessed as good or soft on Tuesday, according to Sulehi Varma, course secretary.
“Rain will be helpful, we need to see how much we get, but the track is currently in a really good location and if it gets us to a place that will allow us to live all week without the need for watering, that would be great" Varma said.
Which horses are participating in the Grand National 2023?
The final line-up of 40 participants will be confirmed 48 hours before the actual race. Unlike recent releases, this year if a horse is withdrawn after these 48 hour notices, that horse will not be replaced.
Five-day announcements on Monday showed the field down to 50 with Gordon Elliott Gevry and Punishers right behind 40 horses. Our Power and Dunboyne have made their way to the very bottom of the scales and are expected to be running.
While this is the case, the 40 runners will be the horses numbered 1 to 40 in our complete guide for runners and riders. for the Grand National 2023. We also have a raffle kit that you can download and print to see which of your friends or colleagues will pick the winner.

Grand National 2023 What are the famous Grand National fences?
Aintree fences are no longer as dangerous as they once were. However, they are still the most well-known obstacles in business.
Chair: The chair is the tallest railing on the track, now standing at five foot two.
Brooke Bechera:The sixth and 22nd fences of the race may not be the biggest, but they are difficult because the landing side is 10 inches lower than the takeoff side . Named after Captain Martin Becher, a jockey who fell on this stage during the first race in 1839 and hid in the creek to avoid injury.
Valentina Brook:named after a horse that allegedly jumped backwards in 1840. Most likely, the horse was spinning in the air to create an optical illusion that its hind legs landed first.
Foyinawon:One of the smaller fences is named after the 100/1 roll that avoided the catastrophic pileup here in 1967 and won.
Channel rotation: As the name suggests, horses must turn sharply to the left after jumping over this five-foot hurdle. Another Aintree myth is that used horses that refused to turn ended up in the Liverpool and Leeds Canal.

< /ul>How the system works handicaps?
As a limited edition race, the Grand National offers the opportunity for less popular horses to compete on more equal terms. The British Racing Authority's handicap formula means that lower-rated horses carry a few pounds less weight than higher-rated competitors.
The minimum that a horse is allowed to carry in a National is 10 2 ounces (including the jockey). The horse with the maximum weight — Any Second Now — will carry the 11th weight of 12 pounds, and the rest of the handicap weights will be calculated from this maximum weight. In 2015, Many Clouds won with the 9oz 11, the biggest handicap for a winner in recent history. Last year's winner, Noble Yeats, brought in just 10 10 ounces. The last horse to win with the maximum weight was Red Rum in 1973 when the maximum handicap was set at 12th.
Weights for this year's race were announced on February 21st.
