Externally, the expensive Chinese MPV is not much different from its competitors, but the interior, apparently, is not ready yet. Be that as it may, the model should start on the home market this year.
The Great Wall range already had a full-fledged minivan: the Cowry monocab, similar to the “first” Toyota Noah, debuted in 2007 (aka Voleex V80). That van was not in demand, so already in 2014 production was curtailed. And here is another attempt to gain a foothold in the MPV segment: this time such a model has replenished the Wey range, the Great Wall luxury sub-brand. From Chinese, the name of the novelty can be translated as Alpine.

In terms of exterior design, the Wey minivan was no surprise, because many competitors have a giant radiator grille with vertical wedges, such as Hongqi HQ9, Voyah Dreamer and GAC Trumpchi M8. In terms of its dimensions, the Wey Alpine surpassed the Toyota Alphard familiar to the Russians, the length of the “Chinese” is 5045 mm, the width is 1960 mm, the height is 1900 mm, the wheelbase is 3085 mm. Models fitted with 18-inch wheels.

The brand has not yet shown the interior, and, judging by the tightly tinted windows, it is not yet ready. However, the ubiquitous photo spies have already managed to look into the interior of the test prototype, and so everything is standard inside too — Wey Alpine will get a scoreboard, that is, a virtual tidy and a touchscreen of a multimedia system placed in a single housing. It is expected that the minivan will be offered in a six-seater version.

The new Wey will be available as a rechargeable hybrid with an installation based on a 1.5 petrol “turbo four” (156 hp). The manufacturer himself, again, has not yet published all the characteristics. Some local media outlets speculate that Alpine's total output will be around 396 hp, and that the van will get a 39.67 kWh battery that will give the MPV an all-electric range of around 204 km (on the WLTC cycle; similar). the brand's crossovers also have the system).

The presentation of Wey Alpine will be held on April 18 at the Shanghai Motor Show, the minivan should enter the home market before the end of this year .
Let us remind you that the Wey brand is not officially represented in Russia today. At the same time, earlier one of its SUVs was caught in the Russian Federation, that is, it is possible that Great Wall will nevertheless bring the brand to our market.
