Smart Automobile (a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely) has unveiled a compact coupe-shaped crossover with the #3 index — at the moment it is the largest model in the history of smart.
The latest history of the smart brand began in 2019, when Mercedes-Benz transferred it to the Chinese holding company Geely as part of a joint venture. Geely is now responsible for the engineering and production of the new, all-electric smart models, while Mercedes-Benz designs them. The first smart model of the new era was the #1 subcompact crossover introduced a year ago, followed by the presentation of its sports Brabus version in August.

Today, on the eve of the Shanghai Motor Show, the world premiere of smart # 3 took place, and this time the Brabus version (orange car in the photos) was immediately declassified. The appearance of smart #3 is not a secret for a long time: back in November last year, the Chinese Ministry of Industry published photos of the novelty, but now the coupe-like crossover can be considered in more detail. Smart #3 is longer, wider and lower than smart #1, the overall length of the “three” is 4400 mm, width is 1844 mm, height is 1556 mm, wheelbase is 2785 mm. With such dimensions, smart #3 is quite drawn to the C-class — before the German brand had no such large models. The drag coefficient cx for smart #3 is less than that of smart #1 — 0.27 and 0.29 respectively.

In terms of design and technology, the “troika” and “one” are as unified as possible, their power plants are the same: the mono-drive versions are equipped with a single electric motor on the rear axle with a power of 200 kW (272 hp), the all-wheel drive twin-engine version of Brabus has a total power of 315 kW (428 hp). Accelerating dynamics smart #3 has not yet been disclosed, the maximum speed of all versions is limited to 180 km/h. Inside, the smart #3 cites the smart #1 in almost every way, with the only noticeable difference being round air ducts instead of oval ones under the central 12.8-inch multimedia screen. The Brabus version has a slightly more aggressive aerodynamic body kit, red brake calipers, decorative red inserts on the body and in the cabin. not named. In Europe, there is more clarity: the local premiere of smart #3 will take place in September at the IAA exhibition in Munich, the novelty will appear at dealers in early 2024.
Let's add that the smart brand has already said goodbye to the old model range: in April, it stopped accepting orders for the EQ fortwo electric two-seater city electric car, its successor will probably be called smart #2, there are no details about it yet.< br />
