Javier Mascherano, manager of Argentina's under-20s, is scheduled to fly to England next week for talks with Manchester United in a club-nation dispute over Alejandro Garnacho.
< p>Garnacho has been called up by Argentina for the U20 World Championship starting May 20.
United don't want to let go of Garnacho, who is nearing a comeback from injury, because they don't want to lose the 18-year-old winger to a skirmish.
Garnacho will miss at least the last two Premier League matches against Bournemouth and Fulham and the FA Cup final on 3 June if they beat Brighton in the semi-final at Wembley on Sunday.
United were eliminated from the Europa League by Sevilla in humiliating fashion in Spain on Thursday night , which ended any prospect of qualifying for the final in Budapest on 31 May.
Mascherano is due to travel to Manchester on Monday, when he is expected to negotiate with United to secure Garnacho's release. The former Liverpool and Barcelona midfielder is likely to face other clubs during his visit.
United's defeat at Brighton could also help Mascherano's cause, but Erik ten Hag is keen to keep Garnacho, who hasn't played since suffering an ankle injury on March 12, but this week posted a picture of himself wearing boots again.
Garnacho is considered the main figure that Argentina hopes for the tournament. FIFA rules state that clubs are «obliged to issue their registered players to the representative teams of the country for which the player is eligible to play, on the basis of his nationality, if caused by the relevant association» and that «any agreement between the player and the club to the contrary is prohibited.»
However, outside certain international windows, these rules are not binding, hence United's resistance.
