Destined for poor markets, the SUV was given the name of the «world» model. The novelty will make its premiere next week.
In 2021, Citroen announced that it would create a whole family of state employees for emerging markets, this project is known under the internal designation C-Cubed. The first-born was a small C3 hatchback with a crossover body kit, and it has nothing to do with the European model of the same name: the production of an inexpensive five-door has been launched in India and Brazil, Brazilian-made cars are also delivered to other countries in South America. And now the second model has been announced, and this is a full-fledged SUV.
The SUV teaser was simultaneously distributed by the South American and Indian offices of the brand, the name was also announced: as in the case of the hatch, the crossover was given the name of the «world» model — Citroen C3 Aircross. And, again, the new SUV has practically nothing in common with the global compact. The crossover is built on a simplified version of the CMP (Common Modular Platform) modular platform with a truncated set of electronic assistants, which also underlies the Citroen C3 hatchback. The global namesakes of state employees, we recall, are based on the old «trolley» PF1.

Judging by the picture, in front of the new cross in many respects repeated the related hatch — at least the headlights and diode strips of running lights are the same for the cars. From the younger brother, the upcoming SUV will also get taillights and an interior with a multimedia touchscreen towering above the front panel: we know about this thanks to numerous spy shots with test prototypes.

Dimensions have not yet been announced. Meanwhile, earlier C3 Aircross posed next to the pre-reform Indian Kia Seltos, and so the length of the new Citroen is close to the Seltos (the current version for India is 4315 mm). However, the wheelbase is likely the same as that of the C3 hatch (2540 mm; the distance between the axles of the Seltos is 2610 mm). At the same time, both Indian and Brazilian specialized media tipped off a seven-seater version of the crossover — apparently, it will be larger than a two-row SUV.

The SUV probably shared the technology with the platform hatchback. The latter in Brazil today is presented with a three-cylinder liter naturally aspirated Firefly from Fiat (71 hp on gasoline and 75 hp on ethanol common in this country), as well as with a four-cylinder naturally aspirated 1.6 EC5 engine (113 or 120 hp). With.). Indian hatch Citroen C3 is equipped with petrol three-cylinder «aspirated» 1.2 (82 hp) and a turbo engine of the same volume (110 hp). In India, the hatchback still has a «green» version, so the C3 Aircross can also get an electric motor. But the drive is probably only front.
The presentation of the new crossover Citroen C3 Aircross is scheduled for April 27th. Like the related C3 hatchback, the SUV will be made in India and Brazil. As for the third model of the C-Cubed project, it has not yet been officially announced, but it is believed that it will be a sedan.
