Mauricio Pochettino is the favorite to take over as Chelsea manager after a dramatic 24 hours with Julian Nagelsmann out of the race and Vincent Kompany shortlisted for the club.
Nagelsmann was one of the frontrunners for the post at Chelsea following the sacking of Graham Potter but will not be involved in the process moving forward as the Blues are now working from a roster of three and hope to set up a meeting in the next 10 days.
< p>Pochettino is at the top of that list, which also features surprise candidate Kompany, who secured promotion to the Premier League with Burnley, and an unnamed manager who is said to be loved and respected at Chelsea.
There is now gaining momentum thanks to former Tottenham Hotspur manager Pochettino, who had a series of positive talks with Chelsea this week and is seen domestically as an extremely strong candidate who ticks off what should be the final round of discussions.< /p>< p>Telegraph Sport reported this week that Luis Enrique had slipped out of the fight and that contact had been made with all of the Chelsea shortlisted candidates, including Pochettino.

Pochettino has spent several rounds of talks with Chelsea with growing warmth towards the Argentine, who was interviewing for the position before Potter was named head coach.
Pochettino's representatives declined to comment on the situation and Chelsea should consider whether his experience as a former Tottenham manager presents an insurmountable hurdle as resistance over the issue appears to be waning.
Pochettino's name has been sung by Spurs fans who want him to return to fill their club's head coach position, but chairman Daniel Levy has yet to take any steps in that direction.
At the current state of affairs, Pochettino would not be faced with a choice between Chelsea and Tottenham if Stamford Bridge offered him the chance to replace Potter permanently.
Chelsea took note of the fact that Pochettino outplayed at Tottenham, almost won the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final with a young team after a squad overhaul that saw high-paid stars like Emmanuel Adebayor leave the club.
Pochettino is the manager who best managed his relationship with Tottenham chairman Levy, which could make a difference given the hands-on nature in which Chelsea's last owners worked and their desire for all departments to cooperate, and led the club through the stadium renovation when the team was supposed to play at Wembley.
At Paris Saint-Germain, Pochettino won the Ligue 1 title by 15 points and won the Coupe de France in his first season. Having seen the success of Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will also learn about the coaches sacked by PSG.
In addition to the fact that Tuchel won the Champions League with Chelsea, Carlo Ancelotti became the champion of Europe. won the title twice since leaving PSG, and Unai Emery won the Europa League and had huge success on his return to England with Aston Villa.
The fact that Pochettino did not win a trophy in England is expected , will not count against him in the eyes of Chelsea, who may believe that this will give him even more motivation to win silver against the Blues.
Despite this. Given Pochettino's momentum, Chelsea are insisting that they continue with the process of appointing a new head coach, which is expected to be finalized in the next 10 days.
Multiple rounds of negotiations have contributed to Nagelsmann being no longer involved in the process, the German was unwilling to take part in the alleged beauty parade, with Chelsea holding their own on how they wanted to come to a conclusion. Nagelsmann is not expected to fill the vacant seat at Tottenham.

Chelsea have always denied reports that Nagelsmann was their favorite from the start, while the 35-year-old's camp grew frustrated with what they saw as indecisiveness on the part of the prime minister. League club.
The Company's progress, also admired by Burnley, to the final stages of the Chelsea move came as a surprise, but it would be an even bigger shock if he were finally offered the job.
Company's accomplishments at Burnley and Anderlechte are impressive, and Chelsea have also drawn attention to his leadership qualities and the fact that he has played so long in the Premier League and Champions League for Manchester City.
But the Belgian has not yet succeeded in the European top league, which would have made him very risky after Chelsea's gamble to get Potter from Brighton backfired.
The identification of the third leading candidate on the Chelsea shortlist has not been established. revealed with sources refusing to confirm his identity. Feyenoord's Arne Sloot is a manager who has been thoroughly vetted by the club and found out that the 44-year-old coach coaches his team in Dutch and English, while Germany coach Hansi Flick was a guest at Stamford Bridge.
Just as Nagelsmann has yet to work outside of Germany, Slot has so far only coached in Holland, which would be risky for Chelsea at a time when co-owners Todd Boli and Behdad Egbahli know they can't allowing themselves to be appointed as their next permanent head coach is wrong.
Sports directors Paul Winstanley and Lawrence Stewart have led the process so far, and Boli and Egbali are expected to play a more prominent role in the final round of negotiations.
