Richard Sharp has resigned as BBC chairman after he admitted that an official report showed that he violated the rules of public appointments.
Mr. Sharp, who said he was leaving to "prioritize interests" broadcaster, will remain until June 27, when, in accordance with the Charter, an acting chairman will be appointed.
This chairman will be selected from the current non-executive board of directors of the BBC. . Rishi Sunak will then have to nominate Mr Sharp's permanent successor, and the Prime Minister will act on the advice of Lucy Fraser, Minister of Culture.

Sir Nicholas was director of the Tate for almost 20 years. He is currently a Board Member of the BBC and also Chairman of the Arts Council of England.
In his two decades at the Tate, he is widely regarded as the man who made Britain fall in love with contemporary art by expanding the brand to Tate Liverpool, Tate St. Ives and Tate Modern.
However, his time in charge of the Arts Council of England was not without controversy, due in part to drastic changes in funding, including dramatic cuts to opera. He has also faced accusations of harassing «leftist, awakened agendas».
Muriel Gray Board Member for Scotland
Muriel Grey, currently a BBC board member representing Scotland, is reportedly popular with the corporation.
A former television presenter, she established herself as the host of the Channel 4 music program The Tube, and was a regular stand-in for BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 4 in the late 1980s.
Ms Gray is the only woman who was rector of the University of Edinburgh. She received an honorary doctorate from the University of Glasgow in 2013 and has served on the boards of numerous charities.
Damon Buffini Vice Chairman and Chairman of the BBC Commercial Council

A year before his appointment, he wrote an op-ed for The Telegraph attacking «narrow political groupthink»; on the BBC, as well as «highly biased»; content in her dramas, adding: «The BBC has strayed too far from its core values and the people it serves.»
Last year, Sir Robbie was accused by former BBC presenter Emily Maitlis as «an active agent of the Conservative Party». in the comments, which Mr. Sharp called «completely wrong.»
Shumit Banerjee Non-executive director
Another non-executive BBC Director, Mr. Banerjee, is the founder of investment company Concordet, LP, which focuses on early development opportunities for technology companies.
He is also on the board of directors of Reliance Industries, one of the largest mobile networks in India. In 2018, he called concerns about the spread of fake news on WhatsApp in the country a «metropolitan indulgence».
