Aston Villa reviews Telegraph Sport understands the ambitious plans of Juventus striker Dušan Vlahovic and Barcelona winger Ferran Torres in the summer transfer window.
Villa's stunning form under Unai Emery has kept them in contention for European entry and the club are looking to support the Spaniard ahead of next season.
Targeting two players of the caliber of Torres and Vlahovic comes as Villa look to complete a deal with Mateu Alemany, the outgoing Barcelona director of football, who will join him in a senior position.
It is understood that Villa also hopes to compete with Newcastle United in the race for Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney, who is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Newcastle are seen as Tierney's most likely destination, but Villa are also mulling a move for the 25-year-old Scot, who falls behind Oleksandr Zinchenko in the Arsenal pecking order.
It remains to be seen whether Torres or Vlahovic will want to join the Midlands club as Torres is believed to be happy to fight for his place at Barcelona.
The Spain international joined Barcelona from Manchester City in December 2021 in a deal worth around £50m and could be worth the same amount this summer.
Vlahovic only joined Juventus in the winter window of 2022 when a £58m deal was agreed with Fiorentina, but he has struggled for stability at the Italian giants.
The Serbian striker beat Lecce 2-1 on Wednesday night, but hasn't scored in nine club matches so far. The 23-year-old has scored 12 goals in 37 appearances for the club this season.
Tierney, meanwhile, has only started one Premier League game for Arsenal since the start of the year, as Mikel Arteta opted to play with Zinchenko as an inverted left-back instead.
