Evolution Space: electric crossover from Germany will last 50 years

In Europe, the trend to create electric vehicles with a long service life is gaining popularity, another such project was presented by the German startup e.Volution GmbH.< br/>

e.Volution GmbH was founded in 2021 by Günter Schuch, a professor at the RWTH Aachen University, already known to our regular readers for the startups StreetScooter and e.GO – not very successful, but at least alive. Another project of an enterprising professor is aimed at creating electric vehicles with a long service life: it is assumed that electric cars produced at e.Volution microfactories will be returned to production every five years, that is, they will undergo a major overhaul with the replacement of worn-out components and assemblies with new ones, and in addition modernized. The estimated service life of each machine is 50 years, followed by a complete environmentally friendly disposal.

The e.Volution startup introduced its first model, the Meta electric minivan, last year, and the crossvan is a very recent development. The company plans to lease both models by subscription to commercial organizations and individuals, in connection with which the final price of the cars is not called. A month of ownership will cost about 1000 euros, the specific amount will depend on the subscription rate, modification and equipment of the car.

Crossvan Space will be offered with two options of overall length — 4092 or 4920 mm, width of both versions — 1920 mm, height — 1940 mm. The short version is 5-door and 5-seat, the long version is 7-door and 8-seat. The outer body panels are made of plastic, while the upper part of the stern can be dismantled and turned into a small pickup Space Space. The roof can be panoramic transparent or covered with solar panels that will recharge the battery during daylight hours. Payload Space — 650 kg, permissible trailer weight — 3.5 tons.

Space is a range extender hybrid: it is driven by two electric motors (one per axle) with a capacity of 140 kW (190 hp) each, the chassis is fully controlled. A battery with a capacity of 40 kWh is mounted in the floor of the body, a full charge of which is enough for 150 km of run, and an additional range will be provided by a hydrogen electrochemical generator or a 2-cylinder internal combustion engine running on liquefied gas. The maximum range on one charge/refueling will be 750 km.

Salon Evolution Space is finished with environmentally friendly and renewable materials, every five years it will be completely updated. The front panel is equipped with a multifunctional screen across the entire width of the cabin, removable bags are attached to the door cards, and textile straps act as door handles. Evolution Space will go into production in about two years, that is, in 2025.

The Meta minivan is positioned as a MUV (Meta Utility Vehicle) and will be equipped with the same twin-engine electric propulsion system as the Space, but without a hybrid add-on, the battery capacity is 70 kWh. Overall length Evolution Meta — 5078 mm, width — 1988 mm, height — 1990 mm, you can enter the salon while standing. The maximum capacity is 7 people, the passenger part of the cabin is separated from the driver's partition, on which a huge multimedia screen is fixed, and two individual screens are provided for those sitting in the gallery.

Let's add that last year the «eternal» electric SUV was introduced by the Scottish startup Munro Vehicles, and the French brand Peugeot earlier this year announced that the service life of its new models will be 20-25 years.
