The Nationalists called on the Scots to vote for them in the next general election so they could 'pull the strings' of a minority Labor government.

Stephen Flynn, leader of the SNP in Westminster, said that the party will use this power to demand that the independence referendum be referred only to the Scottish Parliament.

Over the past decade, the Tories have been warning of the “chaos” that would follow if Labor were to be kept in government with the help of the SNP.< /p>

One commemorative poster showed Ed Miliband, then Labor leader, in the pocket of Alex Salmond, then First Minister of Scotland.

Flynn's latest comments indicate that the Conservatives will be able to use a similar argument in the next general election.

Poll experts said this morning that while Labor has made significant gains in local elections, they did not do enough to be sure of a complete victory in the next general election.

In a statement, Mr Flynn said: “It is becoming increasingly clear that the SNP will be able to hold the balance of power after the next general election, which will put Scotland in an advantageous position to pull the strings of a minority government in the UK,” he said.

“SNP voting is the best choice. way to beat the Tories in Scotland – and every vote for the SNP will be critical to ensuring Scotland has real power and influence.

“As the pro-Brexit Labor Party shifts to the right and becomes indistinguishable from the Tories , SNP will make a real difference.”

“The SNP will ensure that the right to determine the future of Scotland is transferred. Edinburgh that the cost-of-living crisis is becoming a top priority for Westminster and that relations with Europe are being rebuilt and renewed.”

Sir John Curtis said that although the results showed that Labor was on track to become the largest party in the next general election, it is “still unclear” whether they can win an absolute majority.

    “Towards becoming the largest party”

Michael Thrasher, professor of political science at the University of Plymouth, said: “The end-to-end Conservative share is predicted to be between 28% and 30%, and Labor between 36% and 38%.

“Based on a single national swing, these shares The votes and their application to the seats determined in the last general election suggest that Labor may well become the largest party in the next election, but it will fail to win an absolute majority.”

Sir Ed Davey has refused to rule out entering into a coalition with Labor after the next general election.

The Liberal Democrat leader repeatedly declined to comment when asked what he would do if Sir Keir Starmer failed to win a majority next Asked by Sky News about the possibility of a coalition, Sir Ed said: “I'm focused on beating those Conservative and SNP MPs in Scotland where I think the Liberals have a really good chance , and I'm increasingly convinced of our ability to beat the Conservative MPs in the next general election.

“I don't think the Conservatives can be removed from government if the Liberal Democrats don't beat those Conservative MPs.”

Sir Ed, who was told he was dodging the question of a possible coalition with Labor, replied: “I'm not shirking, I'm just saying that our aim at the moment is to remove the Conservative MPs — I could not have said it more clearly.”
