David's sling was introduced in 2017 but was only used once before
Palestinian militants in Gaza released missiles in Jerusalem and Israeli settlements in the West Bank on Thursday as Israel relied on its new Sling of David air defense system to intercept the fire.
As fighting between Islamic Jihad in Gaza and Israel enters its fourth day , Gaza militants fired rockets at the holy city, activating air raid sirens in the outskirts.
Some rockets also triggered air raids in Israeli settlements in the West Bank, where footage shows people taking cover on the roads.
Two rockets fired at Jerusalem were intercepted by an Israeli medium-range missile «David's Sling», which also successfully intercepted a missile for the first time the day before. Although the system was introduced in Israel in 2017, it had only been used once before in an attempt to intercept missiles from Syria in 2018.
According to Israeli media reports, the government froze Egyptian-brokered ceasefire talks and planned to launch a «serious response» to the attack on Jerusalem, which Israel calls its undivided capital.

Islamic Jihad responded by firing rockets into southern and central Israel . , which in turn led to prolonged exchanges of airstrikes and missiles between the two sides over the course of a week, with occasional lulls in the clash.
