p>The premiere of the “off-road” version of the large crossover GAC Trumpchi GS8 (the Trumpchi brand GAC uses only at home), which was called Traveler, took place in April at the Shanghai Auto Show. Previously, it was believed that the public was already shown a production car, but, as it turned out, it was an exhibition model. And now a commercial version has been revealed: its photo and main characteristics have been added to the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry. Well, let us recall that the GS8 of the first generation is still presented in Russia, while in China the second generation model has been sold since 2021.

Judging by the pictures, not all design decisions were decided to be implemented. So, the serial GS8 Traveler did not get more advanced roof rails and additional lights on the roof. But from the Shanghai prototype, massive bumpers, the original radiator grille and diode running lights lined up in columns passed almost unchanged. They also left a “squared” box on the tailgate. In addition, the “off-road” version of the new lining on the wheel arches. Well, instead of the usual emblem, the inscription GAC flaunts on the front.

The length of the Trumpchi GS8 Traveler is 5110 mm, which is 130 mm longer than the standard crossover. Width increased by 26mm to 1976mm. The height and wheelbase have not changed – 1780 and 2920 mm, respectively. Ground clearance for the Traveler has yet to be revealed, with the regular model measuring 200mm. Like the base SUV, the new version is equipped with 20-inch wheels.
