West Yorkshire Police have charged a man with assault after a supporter ran into Eddie Howe at the technical area on Elland Road.
Newcastle's manager has called for increased security after a 2-2 stoppage-time draw with Leeds had an altercation when a fan grabbed him and pushed him in the chest, insulting him.
“Police have charged a man with assault and entering the pitch following an incident at Elland Road football stadium during a Leeds United v Newcastle United (13/5) football match. The man was released on bail, and he will appear in court on July 21" read the statement from the West Yorkshire Police.
The Football Association has confirmed that it will launch an investigation into the disturbing incident. An FA spokesman said: «We strongly condemn the incident involving a spectator during the Premier League match between Leeds United and Newcastle United.
«This person's behavior is unacceptable and we will work with the police, relevant authorities and clubs to ensure appropriate action is taken.» Howe subsequently admitted that he could not clearly remember the incident as it happened so quickly with security rushing to remove the supporter and the Newcastle bench also intervened to protect their manager.
“It was so strange. You focus on the game, not on what you expect,” said Howe. “He ran into me, said something that I can’t repeat, then they took him away.
«I'm fine. But I think it's moments like this that make you think. The safety of the staff, the players, is of paramount importance to me in the Premier League or any Football League game. We need to be careful. Safety is so important.
«I don't know if I had time to be afraid, to be honest, because everything ended in the blink of an eye. It certainly makes you wonder what if. We hope that moments like this will make people analyze the situation and understand how we can increase the safety of staff and players.»
Meanwhile, Leeds denounced the insults and threats received by Patrick Bamford and his family after he missed a penalty against Newcastle.

"It is time to stop this behavior.Those who threaten , do not reflect our fans and are not welcome in our club.»
Sam Allardyce praised Bamford for his all-round performance in his comments after the game.
