The first garbage truck on the KAMAZ Compass 12 chassis rolled off the conveyor of the Smolensk KDM plant

The development and production of a new garbage truck at the KDM factory was a response to a market request: light-duty special vehicles are now in great demand in Russia.

New version SM 8-06 strong> on the chassis “KAMAZ Compass 12” with a 4×2 wheel formula with dimensions of 7,520 x 2,400 x 2,910 mm is designed to perform work in dense urban areas, as well as in small remote settlements. The machine can easily move on roads where axle load restrictions are set.

Chassis “Compass 12" produced at the plant «Traks Vostok Rus» in Naberezhnye Chelny since 2022. The machine is equipped with a 3.8L Cummins 4-cylinder engine with 166hp., and a 6-speed manual transmission. Thanks to the pre-heater of the power unit, the car starts easily even at air temperatures below -18 degrees.

From market analogues on the same chassis, the novelty of the Smolensk plant is distinguished by the wide functionality of the machine control system and the quality characteristics of the superstructure. The small-sized SM 8-06 has increased maneuverability and, at the same time, the best operational properties of large-tonnage equipment. Thus, the compaction ratio of the garbage truck is 1:7, the full cycle of pressing — 19 seconds. This provides effective compaction of the debris and allows loading into the 8 cubic meter bin. m up to 65 containers with a volume of 1100 liters each. The versatile machine can handle various types and sizes of containers ranging from 60 to 1100 liters. Thanks to the use of foreign components and materials (hydraulic system elements, paintwork), as well as high-strength Hardox steel in the composition of the loading hopper, the reliability of CM 8-06 has been significantly increased.

In order to increase driver safety all elements of the control system are hidden under a protective box. For more convenient operation of the machine, the control panels are ergonomically located in the cab, as well as on both sides of the body.

Service maintenance and repair of the chassis is possible in 137 authorized service centers “Compass” located in all regions of Russia. The superstructure is serviced by mobile operational teams of the KDM plant. This favorably distinguishes CM 8-06 from similar small-tonnage garbage trucks, whose manufacturers do not have such a wide service network.

The warranty on the chassis is 36 months, on the superstructure — 24 months.

“We are pleased to launch our joint venture with Trucks Vostok Rus” project for the production of a new low-tonnage garbage truck, which we created specifically for efficient operation in a variety of settlements, but especially in areas with dense buildings, — said Olga Solovieva, General Director of KDM Plant LLC. — We are confident that our special vehicle will be in demand in all Russian regions and, thanks to the expansion of the model range, we will increase our share in the segment of small-tonnage garbage trucks this year.”
