Ford has unveiled the second-generation Transit Courier heeled utility variant. The petrol Ford Tourneo Courier will go on sale in the European market next summer, the electric version will have to wait until the end of 2024.
The second-generation Ford Transit Courier was unveiled in April with hydrocarbon and electric powertrains, it shares a platform with the Ford Puma crossover and will be produced with it on the same factory in the Romanian city of Craiova. The Transit/Tourneo Courier is the most budget-friendly family in Ford's current commercial lineup, and was created outside of an alliance with Volkswagen. Tourneo Courier with an overall length of 4.4 m is in the table of ranks one step below the larger and more status cargo-passenger “heel” Ford Tourneo Connect, which, as you know, is a clone of the VW Caddy.
1/5 2/5 3/5 4/5 5/5The Tourneo Courier will have only one version with an internal combustion engine (the Transit Courier has three): a 1.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged petrol with 125 hp. paired with a 6-speed “mechanics” or a 7-speed “automatic” type DCT (with two clutches), front-wheel drive only. The electric version of the E-Tourneo Courier is powered by a single electric motor on the front axle with 100 kW (136 hp). The battery capacity of the electric version and the range per charge have not yet been disclosed, the maximum charging power is 100 kW.

The photos show a relatively expensive crossover Active with two-tone paint and a protective plastic body kit around the lower perimeter of the body, but in general the Tourneo Courier risks becoming the most affordable model in the European Ford range with a starting price of about 25,000 euros. Now only the Fiesta hatchback costs less (from 20,350 euros in Germany), but this year the production of the Fiesta and the related EcoSport crossover for Europe will cease, both models will leave the market. The Puma crossover costs in Germany from 27,400 euros.

The interior of the petrol Tourneo Courier is simpler than the electric one, the latter has larger instrument and multimedia screens, a “square” steering wheel, embossed side air ducts and a shelf with wireless charging for a smartphone in the place where the petrol Tourneo Courier has a gear lever. Modern electronic driver assistants are available for both versions.

Second row three-seat sofa split 60/40 for ease of transformation. The standard trunk volume is 570 liters, there is a compartment for dirty things in its right side wall, a dozen pockets and niches are provided for small things in the cabin, and the E-Tourneo Courier also has a 44-liter front trunk. The new Transit/Tourneo Courier completes the current phase of Ford's European light commercial vehicle line-up, with the next one apparently all about electric vehicles.
