Dealers of German brand products in Europe will begin collecting pre-orders for the refreshed Touareg tomorrow, May 25th.
The flagship crossover Volkswagen Touareg celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. Recall that the model of the current third generation appeared in 2018, and now it's time for a planned restyling. In mid-February of this year, official “spy” pictures of a disguised prototype of a future novelty were published, which is being tested in Lapland (moreover, it turned out to be a “charged” version with an increase of R). Now the manufacturer has completely declassified the updated Volkswagen Touareg crossover.

During the restyling, the Tuareg was corrected in appearance, this is especially noticeable in the design of the front end. The model has the same hood, but a new grille with a pattern in the form of thin chrome horizontal stripes (it looks visually “lighter” compared to the “grill” of its predecessor), the R-line and R versions have a black grille and have the corresponding nameplates. The crossover also received a new bumper and IQ.Light HD LED matrix headlights with 38,000 LEDs (rely on all versions except the base one). In the future, such head optics will appear in other models of the German brand.

The stern also received its new thing: we are talking about the rear lights, which are now interconnected by a wide luminous plate passing through the entire width of the fifth door. In the center is the brand logo, which received a red backlight. The updated Touareg comes standard with a new roof load sensor that works in tandem with the upgraded suspension system (both the standard suspension and the optional air suspension).

Restyling did not bypass the interior of the Volkswagen Touareg. At the front, VW Innovision's dual curved display combines a virtual instrument cluster with a 15-inch touchscreen for the Discover Pro Max infotainment system, now standard on the SUV. Models have improved the voice control function, added 45W USB-C charging ports (predecessor had 15W), and changed the material for the control keys.

The manufacturer during the update did not touch the Touareg equipment. In the old-world market, the flagship crossover is only available with V6 engines: the range includes a 3.0-liter TSI turbo petrol engine that delivers 340 hp, a 3.0-liter TDI turbodiesel with either 231 or 286 hp.

The crossover is also offered with an eHybrid hybrid installation, it is based on a 3.0-liter V6 petrol, which works complete with an electric motor. The total output of this system is 381 hp. An eight-speed automatic transmission is included, and all versions also receive a 4Motion permanent all-wheel drive system. >The top performance is still the Touareg R eHybrid, this version is the responsibility of the R division, which creates “charged” versions of VW cars. This car is equipped with a hybrid installation, which also includes a 3.0-liter turbo six and an electric motor, but its total power is 462 hp. The “hot” hybrid takes 5.1 seconds to accelerate from standstill to “hundreds”. May. The starting price tag of such a crossover is 69,200 euros, for the next option, Elegance, they ask for at least 75,080 euros, the R-Line version costs at least 79,660 euros, and the purchase of a “charged” hybrid will cost at least 93,870 euros.
