    USA vs. Donald Trump: how the former president ended up in federal court

    Donald Trump is back at work on his way to court, this time facing criminal charges for possessing top-secret and other classified documents from the White House.

    He will plead not guilty when he appears in court in Miami on Tuesday in the US Department of Justice's 37-count US v. Donald Trump case and urged his supporters to gather outside of court.

    Former US President, 76 , admitted his federal indictment for his alleged illegal possession of highly sensitive documents did damage by saying, “I don't want to be charged.”

    The charges include violating the Espionage Act, conspiring to obstruct justice, and filing false testimony to the government.

    Fifteen boxes have been handed over to the National Archives, in addition to the 12 handed over the previous month. 197 documents were found to be classified, including 30 documents marked “top secret”.

    Mr. Nauta is interviewed by the FBI and allegedly makes false claims about knowing the boxes.

    June 2, 2022

    Trump's legal team finds 38 more classified documents in storage, including 17 classified as top secret.
