Hunter Biden makes first appearance at state dinner since plea deal

Joe Biden's son Hunter broke his cover to attend a state dinner honoring India's prime minister, days after agreeing to a federal plea deal.

He was accompanied by his wife Melissa Cohen and his half-sister Ashley Biden to the White House event.

US President's granddaughter Naomi Biden, who married there in November 2022, was also on the list guests of almost 400 people.

He wrote and spoke extensively about the fight against cocaine.

His business dealings, especially during his father's time as Vice President, have been a prime target of Joe Biden's political opponents since the 2020 election and continue to be scrutinized by Republicans in Congress.

After the recognition deal Guilt Has Been Announced, the President of the United States told reporters that he is «very proud» of his son.

It comes after a poll showed that half of Americans believe Hunter Biden was favored by prosecutors after avoiding a gun-related conviction.

A Reuters poll found Americans divided along party lines in their views on the case, with 75% of Republicans claiming preferential treatment compared to 33% of Democrats.

Among other people invited to the event organized in honor of Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, there were many well-known representatives of India. -Americans, including tech bosses Sundar Pichai of Alphabet and Satya Nadella of Microsoft.

Tim Cook, Apple CEO, M. Night Shyamalan, filmmaker, and Ralph Lauren, designer, were also on the guest list.

During the official reception, Joe Biden and Mr. Modi welcomed the new era in their countries' relations by touting defense and trade agreements aimed at countering China's global influence.
