Avito Special Equipment: demand for rental of special equipment increased by 29% over the year

Avito Spetstechnika experts analyzed statistics on the demand for renting special equipment on the platform for January-May 2023 and similar periods in 2022 and 2021 . Demand for equipment rental grew as expected by the beginning of the summer season — by 29% at once compared to last year. Platform experts named the categories of equipment with the most active demand and supply.

The demand for rental of all categories of special equipment in January-May 2023 increased by 29% compared to the same period in 2022 and by 34% compared to 2021. The largest increase in demand compared to 2022 was recorded in the categories “attached equipment” (+84%), “municipal equipment” (+67%) and “earth-moving equipment” (+59%). In turn, compared to the same period in 2021, platform users’ interest in the categories “attached equipment” (+157%), “municipal equipment” (+141%) and “agricultural machinery” (+109%) increased the most.

If we consider not the dynamics, but absolute indicators, then most actively in January-May 2023, platform users were looking for trucks, road construction equipment and lifting equipment for rent.

Growth in the supply of special equipment for rent, as well as an increase in demand for it can be explained primarily by changes in the cost of ownership and its maintenance. Another equally important factor is the transformation of global supply chains. In this sense, the rental of special equipment is becoming more relevant. In the spring of 2023, the total number of announcements about readiness to lease special equipment increased on the Avito platform. In a year they increased by 66%, and in two years by 86%. Most of the offers in 2023 were in the categories «attached equipment» and «trailers» — by 239% and 240%, respectively. In two years, the number of advertisements for the rental of attachments increased by 7 times, by 5.5 times for the rental of trailers and by 4 times for lifting equipment.

If we evaluate absolute indicators, then the most extensively 2023, the platform contains advertisements for the rental of lifting equipment, trucks and road construction equipment.
