Avito Auto experts conducted a survey and found out that the majority of drivers surveyed are ready to go on a trip of more than 100 km by car around the country or their region this summer. Among the respondents planning an autotrip, 15% are ready to drive from one end of the country to the other. About half (47%) are ready to drive through several neighboring regions. 38% can travel to several neighboring cities of the same region/province. The study involved 5,500 residents of Russia who have a driver's license.
With the whole family or alone: how drivers prefer to travel around the country
The survey showed that 82% of respondents plan to travel with family or partner, 11% will travel with friends, 6% will travel alone. It is noteworthy that men are much more likely to plan to travel with friends (14%) or alone (8%).
Respondents in the age group from 18 to 24 have plans to travel with friends much more often (19%) than other age groups. The same trend was noted in the North Caucasus Federal District: residents of this federal district are significantly more likely to plan a trip with friends (19%) compared to representatives of other federal districts.
At the same time, on a trip over 100 km, 22% of respondents traveling in a company always change each other while driving. In the age group from 18 to 34 years, drivers change each other at the wheel more often than representatives of the older age groups.
37% of respondents answered that someone always drives the car. For 35% of survey participants, changing each other at the wheel depends on the situation.
How do Russians prepare a car for a summer trip?
According to the survey results, the majority of respondents check technical fluids and oil (58%), tire condition, spare wheel (56%), suspension, chassis, brakes and steering 53% before traveling long distances.
35% of respondents pass a full technical inspection before a road trip. 19% check the climate control system.
Only 10% of respondents are not involved in any special preparation of the car for the trip.
Among the additional equipment needed on the road, the majority of respondents (84%) named spare wheel and tools for self-changing wheels. A jack is taken by 75% of respondents. 71% of drivers surveyed consider it important to take a set of tools (flat and Phillips screwdrivers, pliers and side cutters, a hammer, etc.) on the road.

The supply of water for the journey was included in the list of necessary things by 67% of survey participants, a can of gasoline and motor oil — by 57%, and washer fluid — by 45%.
Comfort is important for almost a quarter of respondents when traveling: 24% of respondents take a raincoat and pillow with them, and 23% take a portable refrigerator.
