Joe Biden will make a «mini-state visit» to the UK on next week, when he meets with King Charles and Rishi Sunak, the White House announced.

This will come just a month after the prime minister went to Washington for talks with the US president with Russia and Ukraine, probably to feature prominently in their deliberations.

This will be their first meeting since Vladimir Putin faced a coup attempt by Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of the Wagner forces.

Mr. Biden will travel to Lithuania and Finland after meeting with Mr. Sunak on an overseas trip July 9-13.

Mr Biden made a short trip to Northern Ireland earlier this year to mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, meeting with the prime minister for brief talks in Belfast.
