An elderly woman was the second person to be eaten by an alligator in a small South Carolina community over the past year.
The 69-year-old woman, who has not been named, was walking her dog on Hilton Head Island on Tuesday morning , when she was attacked and killed by a male alligator over nine feet (2.7 meters) long.
The woman's body was found on the edge of a lagoon in Spanish Wells, a residential area on the island, after her dogs returned home. without her.
