Ben Wallace accused Hunt of saboteurs, who claimed he took cocaine and had an affair with Liz Truss, because of «sadness.»
The secretary of defense lashed out on a Twitter user who claimed to have had an «affair with Liz Truss» and engaged in «heavy cocaine use.»
The unsubstantiated allegations came from an anonymous account opposed to fox hunting.
Mr. Wallace responded that he was «surprised you didn't expose that I really am an alien from the planet Krypton…!» He added: «You really are sad subs!»
The slang word «sub» refers to hunting saboteurs who interfere with fox hunting by blowing whistles to confuse dogs, making false tracks and making sounds, to distract the dogs.
Mr. Wallace is believed to be a supporter of country sports. and has previously encountered saboteurs disrupting a hunt on MoD grounds.
Last year, he tweeted a photo of balaclava-clad saboteurs, commenting: “The only people who should be wearing masks and camouflage on MoD soil are training military personnel to protect the UK.
«People who intimidate and threaten other users are not welcome.»
League Against Cruel Sports
Mr. Wallace also terminated an agreement with the League Against Cruel Sports, which meant the charity was informed of a hunt that took place on DOD property.
The practice was discontinued last year when Mr. Wallace cited «safety» and «intimidating» behavior and clothing. The League has campaigned to stop track hunting on MoD property, claiming it is a «smoke screen» for illegal fox hunting.
The group called on its followers to petition the secretary of defense and say he ignored «thousands» of emails.
In 2021, 23 hunters were licensed to use 10 sites used by the military.< /p>
Saboteurs have also been criticized for providing police with «heavily edited» footage of the hunt in an attempt to get officers to intervene.
Police said that when officers are called to hunt, their time is spent preventing «people causing harm” as a result of sabotage activities rather than illegal fox hunting.
Prosecution of hunting is often based on footage obtained by activists as it takes place on private land. which is not otherwise available to the public.
Mr Wallace has announced that he is leaving his post at the next reshuffle, sparking speculation about his replacement.
Tom Tugendhat, security minister, according to insiders , is a possible candidate, while John Glen, Secretary of the Treasury, may also run.
