Sir Tom Schoolar was Permanent Secretary to the Treasury from 2016 to 2022. £1 million in severance pay and other benefits, it appears.
Sir Tom Scholar received £335,000 in severance pay and another £122,000 in compensation for annual leave, money in lieu of notice and other matters, the Treasury's annual report says.
Sir Tom's removal in September 2022 came moments after Liz Truss appointed Kwarteng kan Cler after she took over as prime minister and sought to cut taxes quickly.
Ms Truss's supporters saw her dismissal as a sign of her determination to change the economic status quo, but critics called it evidence of a reckless approach to government.
