Angus Cloud, the actor on the HBO teen drama series Euphoria, died Monday at the age of 25, just days after his father's death, his family said in a statement.
Cloud played Fesco, an active drug dealer with a moral code, to a series starring Zendaya as Ryu Bennett.
No specific cause of death was given, but a family statement said he was suffering from mental health and suffered greatly from the death of his father, described as his «best friend», buried last week.
«Angus has been open about his struggles with mental health and we hope his departure will be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not silently deal with this alone,» the statement said.
According to IMDB.com, Cloud had five more acting credits, but his breakthrough role came in 2019 when he landed a role in Euphoria, which depicts a group of Californian high school students engaging in sex, drugs, and violence.
Fesco's character O'Neil, known as Fez, forms a close bond with the main character, played by Zendaya, who leaves rehab early in the series but is still struggling with addiction. This highly acclaimed series has received numerous awards, including two Emmys and a Golden Globe for Zendaya.
«We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was extremely talented and loved by members of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time,” the show Euphoria said in a post on messaging platform X, the social network formerly known as Twitter.
The show aired for two full seasons on 2019. and 2022, plus a couple of special episodes in 2020 and 2021, with a third season set for 2025, according to IMDB.
