England are confident that Tom Curry will overcome the setback due to an injury that could keep the long-range rower out of World Championship training for weeks.
Steve Borthwick , the England manager, said on Thursday that Curry had sprained his left ankle and could be ruled out for as much as two weeks. Since then, the 25-year-old has been seen wearing safety shoes at Pennyhill Park.
However, England are confident that Curry will take part in at least one of the World Cup warm-up matches despite the injury.
Speaking on Friday before the team traveled to Cardiff to face Wales, defensive manager Kevin Sinfield suggested that Curry would be in no rush to get back in the game.«We're very hopeful,» Sinfield said. when asked about Curry's prospects. participating in one of the three remaining warm-up matches against Wales, Ireland and Fiji. «We don't think it will take long, but we'll be smart with it.»
Curry missed Borthwick's entire first Six Nations campaign, earning a return to the team midway through the tournament but suffering a torn hamstring in practice. Because of this, he has yet to play under the New England head coach.

However, despite this latest setback and amid stiff competition for back row spots, Curry appears to be in a strong position to be named in the 33-man squad for the World Championships to be named on Monday.
< p> Sinfield. echoed Borthwick's message that the England squad was close to having an England squad finalized with just a few spots left before the Wales clash this weekend.
Sinfield added. “I'm sure some players will remember this. But we want to show how we got better. There are only a handful [undecided players], not many.
“You guys obviously won't know if the guys we're talking about are playing or not. It would be unfair to say that [choice] is all there is to this game, because it isn't. We have to take into account the last eight weeks, how the players have performed throughout the season, and what we need in the future.
“As I said, there are some great players to miss, unfortunately, because we can't take everyone. We will try to achieve the right balance within the team.”
