Mauricio Pochettino's first game as head coach « Chelsea will be at home at Liverpool and Vincent Kompany will face his former Boss Pep Guardiola when Burnley host Manchester City on Friday night.

A lot of attention will be paid to how much stoppage time is added on the first weekend, with a new directive to discourage wasting time, which is already the subject of backlash from players and managers. This is part of a general revision of the rules.

Big 6 in the spotlight — which games could decide the title?

Sam Dean

Manchester City

A series of games against Arsenal, Brighton and then Manchester United in October seems difficult. A month later, City will play Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in consecutive matches. Their big games are coming in bursts. The backstory seems simple enough: their last four games were against Nottingham Forest, Wolves, Fulham and West Ham.

Arsenal

On paper, a relatively easy start to the season with games against Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Fulham. However, Mikel Arteta's team is in for a tough autumn as they face Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle United within one month. Two of their last four games have been against the so-called «big six» as Arsenal face Spurs at the end of April before traveling to Manchester United in mid-May.

United will travel to north London twice in their first four games, with Spurs away in mid-August and Arsenal in early September. December looks tough as they face Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool over four games.

Liverpool

The opening day trip to face Chelsea Mauricio Pochettino represents a difficult start campaign and then they go to Newcastle United for their third match. Back-to-back matches against United and Arsenal can be difficult in a busy December period.

Tottenham Hotspur

Ange Postecoglou's first Premier League match will be away to Brentford, which is one of the toughest first day matches Spurs could get. In the meantime, his first home game will be against Manchester United. Spring can be decisive: from mid-April to early May, the Spurs have a series of matches against Newcastle (A), City (H), Arsenal (H) and Liverpool (A).

Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea career kicks off with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on the opening weekend. From here, his first few weeks look relatively easy. However, things get more complicated in November and December when Chelsea play a series of matches against Spurs (A), City (H), Newcastle (A), Brighton (H) and United (A) .

Fantasy Football Promotional Will the player kneel again this season?

    Tom Morgan

Premier League Teams will kneel for another season after the team captains agreed that the gesture should continue for «specific matches».

The demo, which was first adopted by players since the Black Lives Matter movement in the summer of 2020, will return to games this weekend. This also happens at the special No Racism Matches in October and April, as well as the Boxing Day matches.

The top tier captains said in a joint statement that they are «unanimous that any form of discrimination is not place in football or in society at large, and we are committed to using our platform to celebrate diversity and show our support in the fight against racism.”

“Therefore, we will continue to show solidarity by getting on our knees at important moments of the upcoming season,” they added. «Diversity is key to the success of the game and we strongly believe that people should respect others regardless of their ethnicity or background.»

The announcement that the gesture will continue comes after research by the charity Kick It Out, which details how 73% of football fans believe the game has become more inclusive in the 30 years since its inception.

However, even more people believe that more needs to be done to combat abuse in stadiums and online.

The Kick It Out Impact Report, released to mark the organization's 30th anniversary, also found that 85% of those surveyed said more needs to be done to combat discrimination against fans in stadiums, and 87% said more needs to be done to combat player abuse in stadiums.
