Alex Salmond says Nicola Sturgeon is a 'sad, downsized figure' who needs a 'silent period'

Nicola Sturgeon Alex Salmond said she will become a «sad, downsized figure» and should take on a «period of silence» while she is under investigation.

Former First Minister launched a new attack on his former protégé on Friday. , claiming that she also led the cause of independence «to a standstill» and handed over a «difficult, almost impossible legacy» to her successor Humza Yusuf.

Mr Salmond made the comment the day after Ms Sturgeon rudely rejected his offer of a possible reconciliation, which he made during a speech at the Edinburgh Fringe.

He said 'never say never' about a possible reunion and admitted he would be 'sad' if he never spoke to Ms Sturgeon. again.

However, when asked about his comments on her own Fringe show, Ms Sturgeon questioned Salmond's sincerity and said she didn't want him back in her life.

The results of the Scottish Government's investigation into Mr Salmond's actions were annulled.

He was later cleared of all charges in a criminal trial and suggested that Ms Sturgeon's allies had conspired against him to put him in jail.

Ms Sturgeon was arrested in June as part of the investigation. SNP finance. Her husband, Peter Murrell, a former executive director of the SNP, was also arrested.

Both were released without charge. Mr. Murrell did not speak publicly during the investigation, and Ms. Sturgeon vehemently denies any wrongdoing.

On Thursday, Ms Sturgeon said she had confidence in the police process. She said she believed the detectives' actions, such as setting up a forensic science-themed tent on her lawn during a search of her home, were «justified.»

When asked if their relationship could be rekindled, Ms Sturgeon said it was «not what I want» and that she would be «very surprised» if Mr Salmond was «meaning» when he offered the olive branch.

Mr. Salmond is now the leader of the pro-independence Alba Party.

«He has shown himself to be a person I don't want to have in my life, who I especially don't want to have a relationship with» , said Ms. Sturgeon.

“We do not have much time on this planet, we have a limited amount of time that we can spend with people. I want to spend time with people who make me happy, who I like and who I enjoy spending time with.”

She added: “I experienced a whole range of emotions with Alex. over the past few years, and now I'm in a place where, yes, there are other people that I'd rather spend time with.»
