The man accused of being the architect of Donald Trump's alleged attempt to undermine the 2020 US presidential election is among the former president's co-defendants in Georgia who turned themselves in. in Fulton County Jail.
Attorney John Eastman was arraigned in Atlanta, Georgia on criminal charges Tuesday for colluding with Trump to try to overturn the election results.
On Tuesday, the county sheriff's office also prosecuted bail bondsman Scott Hall, who is accused of participating in the disruption of polling equipment in rural Coffee County, according to court records.
Trump, 77, announced this week that he will turn himself in on Thursday to face his fourth criminal charge this year, days after he agreed to $200,000 bail.
He also accepted bail conditions that prohibited him from threatening co-defendants or witnesses in the case.
The Republican leader has repeatedly opposed the charges as politically motivated and continues to claim he won the 2020 election.
The remaining 17 defendants named in the indictment are expected to turn themselves in by Friday , the sheriff's office reported.
Mr. Eastman, who agreed to a $100,000 bail, said in a statement provided by his lawyers, «I'm here today to turn myself in to an indictment that should never have been filed.»
He added: «This represents the crossing of the Rubicon for our country, implying the fundamental right of the First Amendment to petition the government for redress.»

A 41-count Georgia indictment charges Mr. Trump and 18 other defendants with racketeering and other crimes in connection with their attempts to restore Mr. Trump's statewide loss to Joe Biden.
District Attorney Fanny Willis gave the defendants until Friday afternoon to turn themselves in.
Prosecutors are seeking a trial in March, but the number of defendants and the complexity of the case could cause delays.
Mark Meadows, the former Trump administration chief, last week tried to take the case to federal court and shut him down on the grounds that he is not subject to prosecution for actions he took as a federal official.
Mr. Joy Willis, who told his lawyers that she would seek his arrest if he did not turn himself in by Friday afternoon, court records showed.
