Rishi Sunak violated MPs' code of conduct by failing to correctly declare his wife's financial interest in a childcare agency, House of Commons standards commissioner said.
The prime minister has been investigated for shares held by Akshata Murthy. Koru Kids, which received budgetary support in the spring.
Daniel Greenberg, Commissioner for Standards, concluded that the breach arose from Mr. Sunak's «confusion» about declaration rules.

He closed the investigation without the need for further action, as he found that the mistake had been made by accident.
Mr. Sunak apologized after the decision was made.
Mr. Sunak claimed Akshata Murthy's stake in Koru Kids on the ministerial register of interests after he failed to mention it in the Liaison Committee questioning of an MP.
Mr. Greenberg said: “In accordance with the Code, Ms. Murthy's shareholding was a significant interest that should have been declared at the Liaison Committee meeting on March 28, 2023” .
< p>The Standards Commissioner said he was pleased that Mr. Sunak «confused» the concept of registration regarding ministerial arrangements with the concept of a declaration of interest in accordance with the code of conduct of MPs.
«I formed the view that the lack of a declaration arose from this confusion and was therefore unintentional on the part of Mr. Sunak,” the standards commissioner concluded.
Mr. Greenberg said: “During a meeting with Mr. Sunak On June 30, 2023, I acknowledged that he may not have been aware of Ms. Murthy's shareholding at the time of the Liaison Committee meeting, but he was under an obligation to correct the entry.”
However, Mr Sunak was aware of the interest when he subsequently wrote to the Chairman of the Liaison Committee MP Sir Bernard Jenkin on 4 April 2023 and he was unable to express interest at this stage or correct the entry.
In a letter to the commissioner, Mr. Sunak said: «If such a scenario recurs, I acknowledged that it was my duty to write to the Committee after my appearance to correct the entry.»

“I accept and once again apologize that my letter to the Liaison Committee dated April 4, 2023 was not extensive enough, because it mixed up the registration and declaration languages.”
“The system needs a complete overhaul”
Angela Rayner, deputy leader of the Labor Party, said: «This is further evidence that the system needs a complete overhaul.»
Despite his apologies and repeated promises of change, Rishi Sunak recently backed away from a key recommendation of parliamentary standards . The Labor-backed committee tightened rules on declarations of interest and hospitality.
“Labor will tighten the system, increase transparency and create an independent ethics and integrity commission that will clean up our politics and restore standards. public life.»
The prime minister's spokesman said, «The commissioner's investigation into the prime minister's declaration of interest has been resolved in an amended manner.»
«The prime minister is taking action takes seriously its duty to register and declare all relevant interests.”
