The new SUV will have its world premiere next week. Most likely, the model will be global.
Rumors have long circulated among the Japanese specialized media that Toyota will assign the name Century, under which they now produce an executive sedan, to a large and luxurious crossover. And in June of this year, the company partially confirmed this information: as part of the presentation of the new generation Alphard and Vellfire minivans, the silhouette of the upcoming SUV was highlighted, and immediately after they showed a slide with the current four-door Toyota Century. Now the first full-fledged teaser of the crossover has been published and the date of the world debut has been announced: the novelty will be presented on September 6th.
Note that the name of the car is not mentioned in the message of the brand, and yet the Japanese media are sure that it will be exactly Century SUV. Moreover, unlike the sedan of the same name, which is sold exclusively in the company's homeland, the crossover is likely to become global. By the way, Toyota did the same with the Crown, turning the fresh model into a separate «world» family.
On the teaser we see the sidewall and part of the stern. Of the design features — plentiful, but not pretentious chrome trim, bifurcated taillights. A hand in a white glove hints at the status of the owner of the crossover: he will have a personal driver. That is, the main passenger will sit on the second row, and it will be given special attention.

The manufacturer has not yet spoken about the filling. According to unofficial data, the Toyota Century crossover was based on the GA-K platform, on which the Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX are also based. Of course, the upcoming flagship will be electrified one way or another.
The Japanese have predicted a starting price tag of somewhere between $100,000 and $130,000 for the new Century SUV. For comparison, the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 in the home market starts at $35,000, the Lexus LX starts at $85,000. Well, a rear-wheel drive Century sedan today will cost at least $137,000.
