The mid-size electric crossover Audi Q6 e-tron was not ready for the premiere at the Munich Motor Show that opened today: it was still shown live here , but with a slightly camouflaged appearance, technical specifications have not been announced, but the interior can already be seen in full detail.
The Q6 e-tron will be the first Audi crossover to be built on the modular PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform. Audi EVs will share this platform with Porsche EVs, and the closest relative of the Audi Q6 e-tron will be the yet-to-be-unveiled electric Porsche Macan. The development of PPE-new products was delayed due to the crisis in the digital division of Cariad of the parent concern VW, which is developing a new generation of integrated operating system for all brands of the concern. The premiere of the Audi Q6 e-tron was originally expected last year, but so far it has not taken place — the long-awaited new “four rings” arrived in Munich in prototype status.
The Audi Q6 e-tron is being pitched as an electric alternative to the Q5's «hydrocarbon» crossover. Why then was the “green” novelty not called the Q5 e-tron? Yes, because this index is already occupied by a Chinese mid-size crossover on the MEB platform. The global Q6 e-tron will be head and shoulders above the Chinese Q5 e-tron in terms of technology, if only because it has an 800-volt electrical architecture that can provide really fast battery charging.

Outside, the electric vehicle essence of the crossover is not marked in any way, and in the interior, instead of the now fashionable minimalism, we see a heap of geometric shapes and black glossy surfaces. The new front panel offers the driver a curved dual-screen display: an 11.9-inch instrument screen, a 14.5-inch multimedia screen. The front passenger has its own 10.9-inch multimedia screen, and it is located so that it is not visible to the driver, that is, the passenger can safely watch movies on the road.

For the driver, in addition, an augmented reality projection screen with very visual navigation prompts is provided. The central air ducts are located under the wide textile “sill” of the front panel and blow into the navel. A push-button control panel for the power plant, a selector for selecting driving modes and a volume control knob are located on the central tunnel. On the driver's door is an extensive control panel for mirrors, lights and chairs. The buttons on the steering wheel are touch sensitive. There is no separate microclimate unit, all the «weather» is regulated through the multimedia screen. In the cabin, a lot of space is promised for little things. The volume of the main trunk is 526 liters, with the rear seats folded down — 1529 liters, and in the front there is an additional trunk with a volume of 64 liters, it is convenient to store the charging cable in it. An upscale Bang & audio system will be offered as an option. Olufsen with 22 loudspeakers, four of which are integrated into the front headrests. The upholstery uses environmentally friendly materials made from recycled materials and industrial waste.
Audi's full premiere The Q6 e-tron with all the technical details is expected in the coming months, the electric crossover should hit the market next year. A coupe version with the Sportback prefix is also in the plans.
