The premium electric car brand Zeekr, owned by the Chinese holding Geely, introduced the top version of the FR flagship liftback 001, Tesla Model was named its main competitor S Plaid.
The Zeekr brand was launched in 2021 and is now one of the growth leaders in the Chinese market, with sales of 66,975 vehicles in the first three quarters of this year, according to Geely, which is 115% more than it was in January-August 2022. The large liftback Zeekr 001 on the SEA platform became the debut model of the brand, it was also the first to receive powerful sports doping. The letters FR stand for Future Roads, which means «roads of the future» in Russian.
A regular Zeekr 001 with a twin-engine power plant produces a maximum of 544 hp, while the FR version has four electric motors (one per wheel) with a total output of 1265 hp. (2 x 155 kW front and 2 x 310 kW rear). The three-engine Tesla Model S Plaid powerplant, which appeared for comparison in Zeekr's presentation slides, produces «only» 1020 hp. The top version of the Sapphire of the American Lucid Air sedan, as it turned out recently, has a power of 1251 hp. In general, the Chinese model has more “muscles” than its main competitors.

The declared acceleration time to 100 km/h for the Zeekr 001 FR is 2.07 s (for the Tesla Model S Plaid — 2.1 s), the maximum speed is limited at around 285 km/h, the retuned suspension with springs and KW shock absorbers allows you to achieve side overloads in 1.4G. The braking distance from 100 km/h to a complete stop is 33.4 m thanks to large Brembo carbon-ceramic brake discs with 10-piston AP Racing calipers at the front and 4-piston at the rear. Openwork forged wheels with a central locking nut are shod with Pirelli P Zero Elect tires in dimensions 265/40 R 22 at the front and 295/40 R 22 at the rear.

Four independent electric motors allow the Zeekr 001 FR to perform a so-called tank turn around a vertical axis, as some electric SUVs (for example, Rivian) can do, but for a sports car there is no practical sense in this exercise. Individual traction control on the wheel, however, allows the Zeekr 001 FR to take corners more accurately and faster.
From the outside, the Zeekr 001 FR is easily identifiable by its more aggressive bumper design and carbon-fiber aerodynamic body kit (massive front spoiler, side sills, extended rear diffuser, aft wing). The interior is almost entirely upholstered in gray and red suede, sports seats with developed lateral support are installed in front, the steering wheel with a red center mark is flattened not only at the bottom, but also at the top.
1/2The capacity of the 800-volt Qilin CATL battery installed in the Zeekr 001 FR is 100 kWh, the range on a single charge is not indicated, a 544-horsepower liftback with a battery of the same capacity can travel 656 km on the CLTC cycle. You can recharge the battery from 10 to 80% on an 800 kW V3 terminal in just 15 minutes — Zeekr will begin installing terminals of such power in China this year: it is planned to open 450 dispensers, by the end of 2024 their total number will reach 1000.
